Malki meets with his Belgian counterpart and informs him about the latest developments.

H.E. Dr. Riad Malki,  Minister of Foreign Affairs and expatriates, met with Mr. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and foreign Affairs of Belgium, at the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels, where he briefed the Minister on the latest political developments related to the Palestinian issue. The racist policies of the Israeli Government towards our Palestinian people, exemplified by the policies of confiscating Palestinian land and the fierce attacks by the Israeli occupation army and its settlers.

His Excellency expressed the concern of the Palestinian leadership about the continued construction and expansion of settlements in the West Bank and the daily killing of Palestinians in cold blood by settlers and the occupation army, practices that would undermine the two-state solution and warned of the repercussions of the absence of political horizon.

H.E. Dr. Malki addressed the Israeli excesses manifested by the expulsion of the international temporary mission in Hebron, stating that the unprecedented US support for the Israeli government by the current administration creates a sense of immunity against international condemnation. Dr. Malki pointed out that the policy of exclusion exercised by the US Administration against the Palestinian People for its punishment and caused for not obeying the American desire will not deter the Palestinian leadership from its continued pursuit of work to build an independent Palestinian state.

"The current US stance calls for a serious EU role to fill the current political vacuum," he said, stressing the Belgian government's firm stance to support the two-state solution by resuming bilateral negotiations between the two sides. The Belgian Government was also concerned about unilateral steps and settlement expansion.

The two ministers discussed bilateral relations, issues of mutual interest and ways of cooperation between the two countries, and stressed the need to strengthen the relationship and cooperation in various issues.

The meeting was attended by the Palestinian ambassador Dr. Amal Jado, Assistant Minister for European Affairs, Ambassador Abderrahim al-Farra, Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Belgium and the European Union, First Counsellor Hassan Balawi, Third Secretary Razan Liftawi and third Secretary Mohamed Younis.
