Dublin meeting: Emphasizing the centrality of the Palestinian issue
In an initiative adopted by Irish Foreign Minister Simon Couveni, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, as well as the foreign ministers of France, Sweden, Bulgaria and Cyprus, and the Secretary-General of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs met at the Irish Guest House in The capital city of Dublin to discuss the current status of the Middle East peace process as well as to define a horizon for the future vision of the peaceful process, stressing the centrality of the Palestinian issue and the principle of a two-state solution.
The Ministers also reaffirmed their position in support of a comprehensive solution to the Middle East issue, taking into account the legitimate rights and aspirations of the two peoples, the right of the Palestinian people to freedom, the establishment of their independent State and the right of Israel to security and acceptance in the Middle East region. The ministers were committed to working to push for an agreed investigation.
In his speech to the audience, Minister of Foreign Affairs and expatriates Dr. Riyad al-Maliki stressed the Palestinian position on the two-state solution and the establishment of the State on the borders of 67 and East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine Minister Dr. Al-Maliki also stressed the importance of European countries recognizing a Palestinian State in order to facilitate the negotiation process and give impetus to the peace process.
