On June 14, The Russian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Palestine Tayseer Jaradat, who is in Moscow on a working visit.
The officials discussed current issues related to Palestinian -Russian relations, including ways to maintain an active bilateral political dialogue on various levels.
During the meeting, the parties had an in-depth discussion of topical issues concerning counter-terrorist measures, including the prevention of funding of terrorism. The delegations documented common approaches to the fight against ISIS and other international terrorism groups. The parties exchanged views on counteraction against dissemination of the terrorist ideology and incitement of terrorist activity, radicalisation of civilians and recruitment of terrorists. The delegations analysed region-to-region statistics on terrorist threat – primarily, in the Middle East.
Those at the meeting confirmed that it is necessary to consolidate efforts of the international community, with the UN as a coordinator, against terrorism, based on international law and without any double standards.
The delegations agreed to continue their contacts and to expand the Russia-Palestine cooperation in counter-terrorist action.
