The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns, in the strongest terms, the racist statements of the Israeli extremist Likud member, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tzipi Hotobli, who announced joining the calls made by a number of extremist rabbis to carry out massive incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, on Wednesday, as part of the “revival” of the so-called “Jerusalem Day”.
The Ministry also condemns the provocative marches carried out by Jewish extremists in the streets of Palestinian towns and villages in occupied Jerusalem, and their attacks on citizens and their property under the protection of the occupation authorities.
The Ministry stresses that the lifting of Israeli flags and the dropping of dozens of Palestinian flags will not create a different reality and will not conceal the reality of Israel’s occupation of the city. The occupation is drowning in a delusion if it believes that sending a few thousand hateful settlers to the streets of occupied East Jerusalem supported and protected by the occupation’s police will terrify our people and our children in the streets of Jerusalem , and if they think that the allocation of large budgets for these celebrations, the movement of dozens of settlers to the streets , and the repetition of their political statements will change the reality, the international law, or guarantee international sympathy. Even preventing our citizens from movement, prayer, housing, food and work, and imposing their repressive, arbitrary, terrorist and racist measures, will not terrify Palestinians and force them to emigrate from their land and their holy city. It is clear that the ruling right in Israel and its various arms, which lack wisdom, reason and logic, is surrounded by fear, failure, racism, hatred and dark ideology. The repetition of lies will certainly not turn it into reality, whether on the public opinion’s or the international official’s level. The occupation will soon discover its real truth, which cannot be ignored despite the passage of fifty years of occupation, that’s built on the failure of their plans and objectives.
What is important here is the international reaction to Israel’s reoccupation of East Jerusalem, the attempt to consolidate its annexation, and the imposition of Israeli sovereignty over it. The Ministry believes that the international stance has not yet reached the required level, especially in the field of the protection and implementation of the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy. The failure to hold Israel accountable for its grave violations of international law has encouraged it to continue to uphold the occupation, settlements construction, and the Judaization of the Palestinian land.
