Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Israel’s Ongoing Atrocities Against Our People Will Not Resolve the Conflict or Achieve Peace

The Israeli government continues to escalate its atrocities against our people, both in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. The Israeli government openly boast about perpetuating crimes of genocide, forced displacement, settlement expansion, and annexation. This relentless assault is exemplified by the deepening military brutality in the northern West Bank and the forcible prevention of 40,000 displaced citizens from returning to their homes in refugee camps; an Israeli attempt to eliminate the refugee issue as part of a broader strategy to erase the Palestinian cause and undermine the realization of an independent Palestinian state. Simultaneously, this escalation serves the Israeli far-right government which thrives on a cycle of  war while implementing the settlers’ policies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirms that the international community’s tolerance of Israel’s war crimes amounts to complicity, effectively emboldening the Israeli government to pursue its expansionist agenda in the occupied West Bank. This inaction raises serious doubts about the credibility of nations that claim to support the two-state solution, yet fail to exert genuine pressure on Israel to halt its brutal assault, heed regional and international calls for deescalation, and engage in a meaningful political process aimed at ending the occupation and the realization of the State of Palestine on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Ministry stresses that international and U.S. recognition of the State of Palestine and its full membership in the United Nations constitute a crucial step toward resolving the conflict and achieving a just and lasting peace.
