Foreign Ministry Urges Immediate International Sanctions to Halt Israel’s Genocide, Displacement, and Annexation
As Israeli occupation forces continue their systematic devastation and destruction of refugee camps and cities in the northern West Bank—particularly in Jenin and Tulkarem—and as they prepare to wipe out an entire neighborhood in the Nour Shams refugee camp, the Israeli occupation is also tightening its blockade on Gaza, depriving the Palestinian people of their most basic humanitarian needs.
Simultaneously, Israel, the occupying Power, has begun expanding its colonial agenda by advancing plans for the construction of nearly 1,000 new illegal settlement units in occupied East Jerusalem, accelerating efforts to Judaize and Israelize the city, alter its Palestinian identity, and sever it from its Palestinian surroundings. This expansion is part of a broader Israeli scheme to redraw Jerusalem’s political, cultural, and geographic landscape and integrate it into Israel’s territorial landscape, in flagrant violation of international law.
Meanwhile, organized and armed settler militias escalate their violent attacks against Palestinian civilians, their land, properties, and holy sites across the occupied West Bank, which remains under occupation and its military checkpoints, subjugated to one of the most brutal colonial apartheid regimes in modern history.
The Ministry, while closely monitoring Israel’s ongoing crimes and violations against the Palestinian people to expose and counter them at all international levels, views with grave concern the international community’s passive stance on the escalating acts of genocide, forced displacement, and annexation. It emphasizes that mere statements of concern and condemnation fall far short of addressing the gravity and magnitude of the atrocities being committed against the Palestinian people.
The Ministry stresses the urgent need for deterrent international sanctions and decisive measures to compel Israel to cease its colonial expansion in Palestine. This is essential to salvage what remains of the credibility of international legitimacy and international law, which is facing severe and unprecedented erosion due to the continued existence of the occupation and its crimes, as Israel continues to act with total impunity.
