Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates calls for urgent international action to halt demolition orders in Silwan and Al-Bustan neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem

Over 7,000 demolition orders threaten the homes of nearly 60,000 Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates urgently calls on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities in the face of grave violations and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation authorities in occupied Jerusalem. Among the most alarming of these violations is the issuance of over 7,000 active demolition orders in the town of Silwan, in addition to approximately 116 in Al-Bustan neighborhood, placing the homes and livelihoods of nearly 60,000 Palestinians at imminent risk.

The Ministry stresses that these escalating demolition plans in occupied Jerusalem are part of a deliberate and systematic Israeli policy aimed at altering the demographic character of the city, forcibly displace its indigenous Palestinian people, and replace them with settlers—constituting a blatant act of colonization and forcible transfer.

The Ministry reiterates that all Israeli actions in occupied Jerusalem are illegal under international law, international humanitarian law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, signed agreements, and relevant United Nations resolutions, all of which affirm that East Jerusalem is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian Territory and the eternal capital of the State of Palestine.

In light of these ongoing and systematic violations, the Ministry affirms its commitment to intensifying diplomatic, legal, and political efforts at all levels—including within the United Nations system and relevant bodies—to expose these crimes, mobilize broader international rejection of these crimes, and work toward holding Israel, the occupying Power, accountable.
