The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Condemns the Establishment of a Jewish School in the Sheikh Jarrah Neighborhood of Occupied Jerusalem

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemns in the strongest terms the approval by the Israeli colonial occupation of the establishment of a Jewish school named "Ohr Somayach" in the occupied city of Jerusalem, in one of its steadfast neighborhoods — Sheikh Jarrah. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejects all systematic Israeli measures and procedures aimed at Judaizing the occupied city of Jerusalem, altering its Palestinian identity, and imposing new illegal facts on the ground through the manipulation of the city's historical and legal status, the erasure of identity, and the falsification of facts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that Israel, as the occupying power, possesses no sovereignty whatsoever over the city of Jerusalem, and that sovereignty belongs exclusively to the State of Palestine. All illegal measures it undertakes targeting the city's exceptional value have no legal effect, are completely rejected, and must be immediately reversed, as they are in violation of international law, the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, and United Nations resolutions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also calls upon the international community and all relevant international organizations — including UNESCO and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation — to adopt a firm international stance that compels Israel, the occupying power, to comply with international law and the resolutions of international legitimacy, affirming that all such Judaization measures in the city will not create a new reality therein, are rejected, and that Jerusalem is a Palestinian city and the capital of the State of Palestine.
