Palestine and Brazil Sign Political Consultations Agreement to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
Brasilia, March 17, 2025/ The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Shaheen, signed a Political Consultations Protocol with the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday. The signing marks a step forward in strengthening bilateral relations between the State of Palestine and the Federative Republic of Brazil across political, economic, and humanitarian fields.
During the meeting, Minister Shaheen conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammad Mustafa. She briefed Minister Vieira on the latest developments in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, emphasizing the importance of Brazil’s continued support for Palestine during these challenging times. She also provided a detailed presentation on the Gaza reconstruction plan and underscored the significance of Brazil’s backing for the upcoming International Peace Conference, which reflects the aspirations of the Palestinian people for freedom and independence.
For his part, Minister Mauro Vieira reaffirmed Brazil’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. He emphasized Brazil’s rejection of all attempts to displace Palestinians from their land and reiterated that Brazil will continue to support Palestine in all international forums. Minister Vieira further stressed that Brazil remains dedicated to achieving justice and peace in the Middle East, in line with UN resolutions and international law, reaffirming that the two-state solution will remain a cornerstone of Brazil’s foreign policy towards Palestine.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Shaheen highlighted the importance of strengthening continuous cooperation between Palestine and Brazil across various sectors to serve the interests of the Palestinian people and further their aspirations for freedom and independence
