Minister Shaheen Delivers Lectures in Chile on Developments in Palestine and the Need for International Action

During her official visit to Chile, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Shaheen, delivered several lectures at the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy and the Permanent Forum on Foreign Policy, addressing the latest developments in Palestine, the challenges facing the Palestinian people, and the international community’s responsibilities in this regard.
Shaheen highlighted Israel’s ongoing violations, including systematic killings, forced displacement, and the destruction of Palestinian property, all exacerbated by the absence of international accountability. She also outlined Palestine’s Early Recovery Plan to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and stressed the urgency of supporting the two-state solution. Furthermore, she warned of the worsening situation in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, noting that Israel is implementing policies similar to those witnessed in Gaza. This, she emphasized, necessitates urgent and decisive international action to hold Israel accountable and uphold international law.

In this context, Minister Shaheen reiterated the importance of boycotting Israeli settlements and imposing sanctions on settlers responsible for crimes. She also called for full adherence to the International Court of Justice’s legal opinion, which demands an end to Israel’s occupation and the realization of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
