Ministry of Foreign Affairs Welcomes UN Report on Targeting of Palestinian Children, Calls for Immediate International Action

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the report issued by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the deliberate targeting of Palestinian children in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since October 7, 2023, describing it as an important international document that highlights the scale of suffering endured by Palestinian children and provides serious legal evidence of violations committed against them.

The Ministry stated that Palestinian children continue to face daily threats, including killings, forced displacement, arbitrary detention, deprivation of healthcare and education, and other forms of violence that have left devastating humanitarian and psychological consequences. It noted that thousands of children have also lost family members, leaving many orphaned and deeply affected by the ongoing conflict.

The Ministry stressed that the significance of the report extends beyond documenting violations, as it also highlights the international community’s failure to stop ongoing abuses and ensure accountability for those responsible.

It called on the United Nations and the international community to take immediate legal and practical measures to protect Palestinian children, end ongoing violations, and ensure accountability in line with international law. The Ministry further emphasized that continued failure to implement international resolutions and relevant rulings undermines the credibility of the international legal system and perpetuates a climate of impunity.
