Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in the Resumed 165th Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Ministerial Level

The resumed 165th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Arab Foreign Ministers convened on Monday under the chairmanship of Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, with the participation of Secretary-General Ahmed Abu AlGheit, several Assistant Secretaries-General of the League, and the State of Palestine.

The Palestinian delegation was headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin, accompanied by Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk.

Ahead of the session, Arab foreign ministers held a consultative meeting to discuss key issues on the agenda, foremost among them the escalating genocide being carried out by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. Ministers also discussed the appointment of Nabil Fahmy as the new Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, pursuant to the mandate granted by Arab leaders.

During the meeting, Minister Shahin called on Arab foreign ministers to provide immediate and practical support to the State of Palestine, particularly in the political, economic, and financial fields, and stressed the importance of implementing Arab Summit resolutions concerning Palestine. Minister Shahin briefed her counterparts on the latest developments in Palestine, highlighting the ongoing war in Gaza and escalating violations in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

Arab foreign ministers reaffirmed that Palestine remains the central Arab cause and reiterated their commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
