Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates participates in the preparatory meeting for the Arab-European summit

The Permanent Representatives to the League of Arab States and the Ambassadors of the Committee and Security of the Council of the European Union held their seventh meeting on 23 January 2019 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Cairo, and the meetings were held to promote cooperation between the League of Arab States and the European Union.

The ambassadors held constructive discussions on issues of common concern, with a special focus on the Palestinian issue and the way forward for the peace process, developments in Syria, Iraq, Al Samen and Libya, as well as the fight against terrorism, immigration issues, and refugee’s das well as to Iran.  They are Aware of the importance of working together to meet the common political, economic, social and security challenges that threaten the stability of their common region. They also welcomed the expansion of the Arab-European partnership as an appropriate regional response, and in this regard, the two sides welcomed the convening of the fifth Joint Ministerial Meeting on 4 February 2019 in Brussels and the holding of the first Arab-European Summit on 24-25/2019 in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Progress has been made since the launch of the strategic dialogue between the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the European External Action Commission in November 2015, especially in the areas of conflict prevention, early warning and crisis management, humanitarian assistance, counter-terrorism, transnational organized crime, migration, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and arms control.

Aware of the opportunities and challenges facing the Arab-European relations, the Permanent Representatives to the League of Arab States and the ambassadors of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union have expressed their determination to promote cooperation and coordination and to work together for a secure and better future for all.

The meetings were Participated by the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the brotherly Republic of Egypt, Diab al looh ,  and Assistant of the Minister for European Affairs Ambassador Dr. Amal Jado and Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Belgium, Luxembourg and European Union Abdul Rahim al-Farra Mr. Muhannad Al-'aklok, Ambassador of Palestine to the League of Arab States and counsellor Jumanah Alghoul of the Palestinian delegation to the League of Arab States and Third Secretary Razan Liftawi , director of the European Union department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
