Minister Shahin Meets Vice President of the Republic of Ghana as Part of Her Official Tour

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin met with the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Nana Jane Opoku, as part of her official visit to Ghana. The meeting was attended by Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, James Jakey, Acting Director General of the Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khadija Idris, and Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ghana, Abdel Fattah Al-Satari.

Minister Shahin affirmed that her visit to Ghana was both timely and fruitful, reflecting the depth of the longstanding historical relations between the two countries. She conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas and delivered his letter addressed to the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.

Shahin expressed appreciation for the support of the Government of Ghana, under the leadership of its President, for the State of Palestine in international forums and at the United Nations. She emphasized that Palestine’s demands are legitimate rights guaranteed under international law, to be realized through the political process, the support of friendly states, and the implementation of the New York Declaration, leading to the realization of an independent Palestinian State and the achievement of lasting peace.

The Minister also stressed the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations with Ghana and exploring prospects for cooperation and the signing of future agreements at various levels.

For her part, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana welcomed Minister Shahin and her accompanying delegation, underscoring the significance of the visit for Palestinian–Ghanaian relations. She reaffirmed Ghana’s supportive stance toward Palestine, its commitment to ending the suffering of the Palestinian people, and to achieving lasting peace, as well as Ghana’s desire to further enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.
