Minister Shahin Meets First Deputy Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin met in Accra with the First Deputy Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor, in the presence of several Members of Parliament and members of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, with the participation of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ghana, Abdel Fattah Al-Satari.

At the outset of the meeting, Minister Shahin reaffirmed the State of Palestine’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the Republic of Ghana at all levels, including through the signing of memoranda of understanding and the holding of future political consultations. She expressed her appreciation to the Government of Ghana, led by President John Dramani Mahama, for its supportive positions toward Palestine, particularly in international forums and at the United Nations, and commended both the Ghanaian government and people for their solidarity and humanitarian support to the Gaza Strip.

For his part, Ahiafor welcomed Minister Shahin and her delegation, underscoring the importance of the visit in further enhancing bilateral ties and highlighting the longstanding relations of friendship between Palestine and Ghana. Members of the parliamentary delegation expressed their full solidarity with the Palestinian people and their rejection of the ongoing war of genocide against Gaza, noting its devastating humanitarian impact, especially on women and children, and the loss of thousands of children’s right to education over the past two years.

The two sides also discussed prospects for strengthening future cooperation in key areas, including education, health, agriculture, technical cooperation, and capacity-building and vocational training.
