Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin began her official visit to the Slovak Republic on Monday with a meeting with the Council of Church Leaders, along with representatives of the Slovak Catholic Charity and Caritas Slovakia in the capital, Bratislava.

Minister Shahin briefed the Council of Church Leaders on the current situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, particularly the grave violations committed by the occupation against holy sites and religious places in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

The two sides also discussed prospects for cooperation in areas of mutual interest and the role of church institutions in promoting the values of humanitarian solidarity.

The Slovak Catholic Charity and Caritas Slovakia reviewed the humanitarian projects they are implementing in the occupied Palestinian territory. The visit concluded with a tour of St. Martin’s Cathedral in Bratislava.
