Minister of Foreign Affairs Calls Iraqi Counterpart, Affirms Deep Bilateral Ties and Respect for Iraq’s Sovereignty

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin held a phone call on Sunday with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Fouad Hussein reaffirming the State of Palestine’s full respect for Iraq’s sovereignty over its territory and its right to manage its internal and external affairs free from any interference.

During the call, the Minister emphasized Palestine’s commitment to strengthening its fraternal relations with Iraq, in appreciation of Iraq’s regional and international role and its historic positions in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause. She also conveyed the greetings of the Palestinian leadership and government to her Iraqi counterpart and the Iraqi leadership, underscoring the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and Palestine’s keenness to further develop cooperation across various fields.

For his part, Minister Fouad Hussein expressed appreciation for the initiative, commending the spirit of responsibility and the commitment to clarifying positions in a way that enhances mutual trust between the two countries. He reaffirmed that Iraq believes in the justice of the Palestinian cause and that its positions stem from its firm principles supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
