Dr. Malki: Welcomes the decision by the Chancellor of the European Court to label illegal settlement goods

Dr. Riad Malki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and expatriates of the state of Palestine, praised the opinion of the Legal Counsel, Gerard Hogan, the attorney General of the European Court of Luxembourg, on respect for European laws, the requirements for the labelling of illegal settlement goods, and the marking of their source and facilities, to Do not mislead the European consumer about the goods of colonial settlements. Malki said the resolution was in line with the rules and principles of international law and the resolutions of the international consensus and the Security Council on the illegality of settlement colonies in the territory of the State of Palestine.

The Foreign Minister stressed that diplomatic efforts, and the international legal movement that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had worked on over the past period in targeting the colonization system of settlements, had begun to produce results, and that the conclusion of the legal opinion was based on the need to distinguish between land Occupied Palestinian territories in 1967 and Israel, in addition to the occupied Syrian Golan. Malki noted that respect for international law by EU countries contributes to the re-consideration of international law and the multilateral international system, which is being tried to undermine the current US administration and its ally Israel.

Malki considered the decision of the Legal Chancellor of the European Court to be an important step in preventing direct or indirect dealings with illegal settlements, their entities and settlers as a serious contravention of international law, a war crime and a crime against humanity based on the Rome Charter Of the International Criminal Court, in addition to being the most significant form of the racist and discriminatory colonial regime established by Israel, the occupying Power, in the territory of the occupied State of Palestine, and Malki's request to the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Michelle Bachelet, to issue a rule Data to entities and institutions operating directly or indirectly in settlements as soon as possible, encouraged by the decision of European attorney general Gerard Hogan.
