Ministry of Foreign Affairs Supports Somalia’s Unity, Sovereignty, and Territorial Integrity and Rejects Israel’s Recognition of ‘Somaliland’

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirms its unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and political independence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, in a manner that guarantees the Somali people’s right to live in dignity, security, and stability. This position is consistent with international law, the resolutions of Arab and international consensus, and the decisions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Ministry expresses its rejection and condemnation of Israel’s recognition of the ‘Somaliland’ region, stressing its refusal of any steps that support secession, confer legitimacy upon it, undermine Somalia’s sovereignty and unity, or jeopardize its stability.

The Ministry further stresses that this rejected recognition forms part of Israel’s broader policies, as an occupying colonial power, aimed at destabilizing international and regional peace and security, in violation of international law and the UN Charter. It also recalls that Israel has previously invoked the name “Somaliland” as a destination for the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, particularly from the Gaza Strip.

Accordingly, the State of Palestine reaffirms its absolute rejection of all Israeli plans for forced displacement under any pretext, considers them a red line, and warns against any party’s alignment with or acquiescence to such proposals.
