Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Ending the Genocidal War and Ensuring Sustainable Aid Access is the Right Approach to Stop the Famine in Gaza

For over 400 days, our people in Gaza have endured a campaign of genocide, displacement, and destruction of every aspect of human life. According to documented local, regional, and international reports, Israel continues to weaponize starvation in its war against Gaza, a tactic acknowledged by multiple Israeli officials. Based on the UN’s definitions and criteria, it is clear that our people in Gaza are facing a brutal famine, with aid severely restricted, delayed, and causing desperate crowding when it arrives. The signs of famine are increasingly evident, with cases intensifying in northern Gaza, as deaths from food scarcity and malnutrition spread throughout the region. The Ministry believes that large-scale ethnic cleansing in northern Gaza exacerbates this famine, as part of the occupation’s efforts to empty the area of its residents.

The Ministry condemns the latest massacre by Israeli forces this morning in Jabalia, where over 36 Palestinians were killed and many more were left wounded. The expansion of Israeli settlements within Gaza, including the construction of the Netsarim Corridor and the division of Gaza into isolated segments with permanent military installations, are clear steps to entrench the occupation and redesign Gaza to exclude Palestinian residents. The collective massacres, hospital destruction, and deprivation of citizens from food, water, and medical care represent atrocities even more appalling than famine itself.

The Ministry calls on the international community to act decisively in the face of the undeniable realities of genocide, famine, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement. Only immediate and decisive global intervention can end the famine, halt the campaign of annihilation against Gaza, and protect the Palestinian people from further atrocities.
