Eviction of Shweiki and Odeh Families in Batn al-Hawa Is a Grave Crime in Jerusalem
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemns the Israeli occupation government’s forced eviction of the Shweiki and Odeh families from their homes in Batn al-Hawa, Silwan, in favor of the extremist settler group “Ateret Cohanim.”
These actions, carried out under the protection of Israel’s racist courts and settler associations, constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute. They are part of a deliberate policy of ethnic cleansing, aimed at emptying Jerusalem of its Palestinian residents and replacing them with settlers. Settlement expansion and forcible transfer amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The Ministry is mobilizing its diplomatic missions worldwide to expose this atrocity and rally the international community to take action. We call on all states to hold Israel accountable, impose sanctions on “Ateret Cohanim” and similar extremist settler groups, and take urgent measures to protect Palestinian families and preserve Jerusalem’s Palestinian identity.ش
