Under the patronage of the Indonesian Foreign minister-Ambassador Shamieh signs a letter of intent on Indonesian support for Palestine with the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry

Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and expatriates for Asia, Africa and Australia, Dr. Mazen Shamieh, signed with the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry, Mr. Mayerfas a letter of intent on the intention of the Republic of Indonesia to provide financial assistance for medical equipment, medicines and Of the desalination system for the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, where it was signed in Amman, Jordan, under the patronage of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Ms. Retno Marsudi ,and in the presence of foreign ambassadors and political and economic figures.

 

Ambassador Shamieh together with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the State of Palestine, Mr. Andy Rachmianto, participated in the opening ceremony of the training of trainers programme for women in refugee camps to be held in Jordan during the period between 5-7 March 2019.

For her part, Indonesian Foreign minister Ms. Retno Marsudi stressed during her opening speech that the Palestinian issue always remains at the heart of Indonesian foreign policy, and that Indonesia's solidarity with Palestine is enshrined in the Indonesian Constitution, and stressed the importance that Indonesia attaches of capacity-building programmes as part of Indonesian support geared towards building the institutions of the Palestinian State, and noted the importance of intensifying and developing collective efforts geared towards supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause.

 

The non-resident Indonesian ambassador to the State of Palestine, Mr. Andy Rachmianto, reviewed the agenda of the training program, which comes within the framework of the empowerment of women as a goal of the sustainable Development Plan 2030, in cooperation with UNRWA, the Hashemite Jordanian charitable organization and several others, stressing Indonesia's unwavering commitment to support the Palestinian people at all levels.

 

For his part, Ambassador Shamieh in his statement, thanked and valued the deep Palestinian people and leadership of the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia for their unconditional and unlimited support in all international forums and at all levels, including support for the building and development of the institutions of the Palestinian State and the promotion The human capabilities of the Palestinian people, stressing the depth of historical relations between the State of Palestine and the Republic of Indonesia, which have always embodied Indonesia's principled positions in support of the Palestinian cause, and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence on its national soil and the establishment of its state On the borders of the fourth June of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

 

Shamieh  also reiterated the Palestinian side's appreciation of the firm and courageous positions of the Republic of Indonesia towards the Palestinian people and it’s just cause, which was recently expressed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Retno Marsudi ,in the Security Council as Indonesia, a non-permanent member of the 2019-2020, which confirms that Indonesia will always remain in the foreground in support of the Palestinian people towards freedom and independence.

 

Ambassador Shamieh  thanked the brotherly Kingdom of Jordan for its efforts to support the Palestinian people at all levels, and praised the joint efforts it had made with the Indonesian side to embrace this program and other activities aimed at developing and building Palestinian capabilities.

 

The event was attended by Ambassador Dr. Mazen Shamieh, First counsellor Hatem Kayed at the Embassy of the State of Palestine to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Ahlam Taha, director of the Southeast Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates.
