The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemns the occupation's assault on the Ibrahimi Mosque and demands the activation of an international protection system for our people

The ministry is following up on these violations with UNESCO and specialized international organizations to take necessary measures to pressure the Israeli government to stop them immediately.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemns the Israeli occupation authorities for roofing the courtyard of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, in a blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions regarding a site registered on the World Heritage List by UNESCO as a Palestinian and global religious and cultural heritage site, and a clear provocation to the feelings of Palestinians and Muslims.

The ministry considers this assault an integral part of the occupation's projects aimed at perpetuating the theft and Judaization of the Ibrahimi Mosque by altering its historical and cultural landmarks and identity. It is also an expression of the occupation's mentality and policies targeting places of worship and historical and heritage sites in occupied Palestine and falsifying their reality to serve the occupation's narratives and colonial plans.

The ministry confirms that it is following up on these and other violations with UNESCO and specialized international organizations to take necessary actions and measures, including activating fact-finding committees to understand the details of the Judaization processes of these historical places and places of worship, and taking necessary measures to pressure the Israeli government to stop them immediately. The ministry calls on the UN Secretary-General to activate the international protection system for the Palestinian people, including providing protection for religious, heritage, and cultural sites.

Once again, the ministry affirms that this violation and other forms of ongoing aggression against Christian and Islamic holy places are new evidence of the occupation government's intentions to escalate the situation and ignite the conflict and the entire region.
