State of Palestine Participates in the Funeral of His Holiness Pope Francis

On behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas, the State of Palestine was represented by an official delegation led by His Excellency Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, at the solemn funeral of His Holiness Pope Francis, held this morning in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican.

The Palestinian delegation included Dr. Ramzi Khoury, Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine; Dr. Varsen Shahin, Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates; Issa Kassissieh, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Holy See; and  Amira Hanania, Ambassador and Representative of the Committee in Europe.

The funeral was attended by monarchs, heads of state, prime ministers from approximately 150 countries, and more than 200,000 mourners, who gathered to honor the life and legacy of His Holiness.
