Minister Shahin Discusses Recognition of the State of Palestine with French Consul General

23/05/2024 - Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met today with the French Consul General in Jerusalem, Mr. Nicolas Kassianides, to discuss the importance of France recognizing the State of Palestine to support the two-state solution. Shahin expressed gratitude for France's continuous support, particularly during the onset of the aggression on the Gaza Strip, including humanitarian aid and support for UNRWA. She highlighted the severe conditions in Gaza and the West Bank, urging France to continue its political and financial support to help the Palestinian government meet daily needs.

Kassianides reaffirmed France's commitment to supporting Palestine in international forums, advocating for more EU sanctions on settlers, strengthening bilateral relations, and protecting the Christian presence in East Jerusalem.
