The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Urges World Not to Squander UN Resolution’s Opportunity for Ceasefire

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates once again warns of the catastrophic consequences of the Israeli government’s relentless destruction of the human heritage of the Palestinian people in Gaza, through crimes of mass killing, the annihilation of residential towers, homes, and institutions, aimed at forcing over one million Palestinians into continued forced displacement. This is taking place under constant bombardment and live on air, with no safe haven across the entire Strip, amidst a comprehensive and systematic starvation campaign that robs them of life and pushes them toward displacement by means of occupation and the deliberate destruction of all elements of their existence.

The Ministry urges the international community to move beyond the traditional, formulaic positions repeatedly adopted in calls for a ceasefire and an end to genocide against our people, and instead to adopt bolder measures to protect Palestinian civilians and to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid without obstacles.

The Ministry stresses that the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly provides a genuine and valuable opportunity to halt the war and allow diplomatic efforts to counter the calls for war and killing, achieve calm, secure the release of hostages and prisoners, rescue civilians, and begin implementing the New York Declaration in all its details.
