Ministry of Foreign Affairs Welcomes UK Measures Against Israeli Occupation Practices in the West Bank and Gaza

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomes the positions expressed by the British Foreign Secretary, in which he condemned statements made by leading figures in the Israeli right wing government calling for the deepening of ethnic cleansing policies in the Gaza Strip. The Ministry also values the measures and sanctions adopted by the United Kingdom against a number of Israeli individuals and entities involved in assaults against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, particularly in the West Bank.

The Ministry expresses its appreciation for the British government’s decision to suspend negotiations on a trade agreement with Israel, as well as its decision to halt arms exports that could be used in military operations against civilians in Gaza. Furthermore, the Ministry welcomes the British Foreign Secretary’s reaffirmation of the United Kingdom’s commitment to the two-state solution, its ongoing steps toward the recognition of the State of Palestine, and his clear and principled call for an immediate cessation of the Israeli atrocities committed against the Palestinian people.
