Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Settler Terror in Aqraba Requires Firm International Sanctions on Israeli Settlement

Ben Gvir’s Storming of Occupied Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Is a Brazen Challenge to the International Community and Its Resolutions

The Israeli occupation government is waging a relentless campaign to derail international consensus on the two-state solution and prevent the State of Palestine from exercising sovereignty over its territory occupied since 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. It continues to prolong genocide and forced displacement in Gaza, while fueling settler crimes in the West Bank by enabling armed militias to carry out brutal attacks against Palestinian civilians, as seen recently in Aqraba, south of Nablus and earlier in Silwad. These crimes aim to uproot Palestinians from their land and force them into a constant struggle for survival.

The Ministry expresses deep concern over Israel’s continued impunity in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the growing use of live fire by settler militias attacking Palestinians under military protection. It also condemns the provocative marches in Jerusalem’s Old City led by extremist minister Itamar Ben Gvir, including his participation in today’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque. These crimes reflect a systematic, state-backed policy to erase the Palestinian cause and undermine global efforts to end genocide, displacement, and the occupation of Palestine.

As the Ministry tracks ongoing settler crimes and the suffering in Gaza, it is intensifying efforts to rally international support for Palestine, ensure implementation of the ICJ advisory opinion, and demand an immediate end to genocide, displacement, starvation, and annexation. The Ministry urges all states and the UN Security Council to meet their legal and moral obligations by halting Israel’s genocide, imposing effective sanctions, and protecting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
