Minister Shahin Receives New Head of Programs at the ICRC
Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, held an introductory meeting with Mr. Julien Chassany, the newly appointed Head of Programs at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), on Monday at the ministry’s headquarters.
During the meeting, Minister Shahin provided an overview of the evolving humanitarian landscape in Palestine, emphasizing the critical need for increased ICRC support. She urged the ICRC to adopt a more visible and proactive stance regarding the ongoing violations against Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, especially those held in undisclosed locations, and underscored the profound impact on detainees’ families. Highlighting the escalating humanitarian needs, Minister Shahin praised the ICRC’s critical contributions in assisting Palestinian people.
Mr. Chassany reaffirmed the ICRC’s dedication to addressing urgent humanitarian challenges in Gaza and across Palestine. He emphasized the ICRC’s commitment to providing comprehensive support and strengthening its cooperation with the State of Palestine to advance humanitarian relief efforts.
