Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin received today a copy of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the State of Palestine, Ambassador Sun Zhen.

At the outset of the meeting, Minister Shahin welcomed Ambassador Sun Zhen and wished him success in his new diplomatic mission. She reaffirmed the deep-rooted friendship between the State of Palestine and the People’s Republic of China, expressing appreciation for China’s consistent support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its steadfast backing of the Palestinian cause in international forums.

Minister Shahin underscored Palestine’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with China and expanding cooperation across various sectors in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their peoples. She also commended China’s role in supporting efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the two-State solution, as well as its humanitarian and development assistance to the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip. In this context, she welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s announcement of an additional US$100 million in humanitarian assistance to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support reconstruction efforts.

For his part, Ambassador Sun Zhen conveyed the greetings of the Chinese Foreign Minister to Minister Shahin.
