Minister Shaheen Meets with Representatives of the National Council of Christian Churches in Brazil (CONIC Brasil)
As part of her official visit to Brazil, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Shaheen, received a delegation from the National Council of Christian Churches in Brazil (CONIC Brasil) at the headquarters of the Embassy of the State of Palestine. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Brazil, Ibrahim AlZeben, and focused on the latest political developments in Palestine, including the escalating Israeli violations against holy sites and the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, Minister Shaheen provided an overview of the ongoing Israeli assaults affecting the Palestinian people in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and Jerusalem, as well as the challenges facing Palestinian Christians. She emphasized that the Palestinian struggle is not a religious conflict but rather a political one; a struggle for liberation and legitimate rights, as affirmed by international law and UN resolutions. She also highlighted the continuous Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites, which pose a serious threat to their historical and religious identity.
The Minister underscored the vital role of religious institutions and clergy in supporting the Palestinian narrative and countering Israeli misinformation through historical, political, and legal facts. She also briefed the delegation on the latest developments in Palestine, stressing the importance of international solidarity in protecting holy sites and Palestinian rights and advancing efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on international law and relevant UN resolutions.
