Agreement on holding of the Palestinian-Cypriot Joint Committee and the trilateral Palestinian-Greek Cypriot summit before the end of this year

A political consultation between the State of Palestine and the Republic of Cyprus, chaired by the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and expatriates for European affairs, Ambassador Dr. Amal Jadou, and the permanent secretary of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus ,  Ambassador Tasos A. Tzionis,  the consultation was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates in Ramallah . In the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the State of Palestine,  Savvas Vladimirou . and the director of the Western Europe Department in the Ministry, Counsellor Ihab El Tari ,  and the responsible for the official file of the Republic of Cyprus Mohammed Abu Shahla,  , Mayar Rantissi and Najlaa Abu Shalbak from the Media Departement. 

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Jadou , praised the historic relations between the two countries and welcomed the Cyprus position of voting for Palestine on the recent World Health Organization (WHO) resolution on health conditions in the Palestinian territories. She also reviewed the latest political developments on the Palestinian scene and pointed the difficult economic situation in Palestine due to the actions of the administration of the United States, which worked to cut the full humanitarian assistance and the occupation government's piracy of Palestinian funds through deductions from clearing funds on the pretext It is money paid to the families of martyrs and prisoners, confirming the position of the Palestinian leadership in its national commitment to the families of martyrs, wounded and prisoners of Palestine, and its rejection of all restrictions and pressures aimed at compromising national constants and warned of the danger of the worsening of the Palestinian economic situation, fearing that it would collapse soon.

Ambassador Jadou also addressed the escalation of Israeli violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly Israeli settlement and land confiscation, and the repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem, although all of this is contrary to the resolutions of international legitimacy that undermine the peace process And the establishment of a Palestinian state. The Palestinian leadership is committed to its stance towards a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital .

 Ambassador Tasos A. Tzionis, reaffirmed the position of the Republic of Cyprus on the two-state solution and the right to self-determination, and his country's continued support for Palestinian institutions. He added that under these difficult political and economic period for the Palestinian people, it is important to work to provide support,  and increase economic cooperation and support various sectors such as education, tourism, trade and business.

In conclusion, Ambassador Jadu thanked Ambassador Tasos A. Tzionis, for this visit, calling for the strengthening and development of bilateral relations, and for the Joint Committee, stressing the importance of  the continuity in holding such meetings for consultation and exchange of views on many international, regional and bilateral issues. The tripartite Palestinian-Greek Cypriot summit will be held before the end of this year, Dr. Jadou called on the Cypriot ambassador  Mr. Savvas Vladimirou to support the accession of Palestine to the universal Postal Union and to support the implementation of the European Parliament's decision on the marking of Israeli settlement goods.
