Shaheen Meets Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Marshall Islands to Discuss Latest Developments
Geneva – Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Varsen Shaheen, met today Tuesday, with Kalani R. Kaneko, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, on the sidelines of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Minister Shaheen discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territory, emphasizing that the ongoing crimes in Gaza are being systematically replicated in the West Bank. She highlighted the presence of heavy Israeli occupation tanks at refugee camp entrances and the demolition of residential buildings, measures that aim at the annexation of Palestinian land.
Minister Shaheen commended the Marshall Islands’ support for the UN General Assembly resolution on the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice in July 2024. She urged continued legal, political, and diplomatic support for Palestinian efforts to secure their legitimate rights based on a two-state solution.
Both sides agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation, including an invitation for Minister Kaneko to visit Palestine and witness firsthand the situation in the occupied territory
