Palestinian Foreign Minister Meets his Czech Counterpart

Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Riad Malki discussed with his Czech counterpart Tomáš Petrícek the promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries in the sectors of health, education, energy and development projects, affirming the continuity of periodic political consultations between them.

Malki, during a meeting in Ramallah, stressed Palestine’s expectations that Prague would play an important role as president of the Visegrád Group; an alliance of four eastern and central European states: Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, in committing to European unanimity and the enforcement of international law regarding the Palestinian issue.

Malki briefed his Czech counterpart on the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly the PA efforts to face to the US unilateral peace plan, known as the 'deal of the century’ and the failure of the US-led Bahrain workshop.

Both sides affirmed the need to respect international references in order to solve the Israel-Palestinian conflict, and the importance of the unity of the European Union's position and the commitment of Member States to its decisions and recommendations, particularly with regard to the status of the occupied city of Jerusalem and the implementation of the vision of a two-state solution.
