The Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit held an official meeting on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, under the chairmanship of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with His Excellency the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, in Paris. The committee members who participated in the meeting are His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Al-Safadi, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Sameh Shoukry, and His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, Riad Malki, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, Her Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Ms. Retno Marsudi, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Yusuf M. Tuggar, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in the presence of Her Excellency the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, Catherine Colonna.
The meeting welcomed the joint mediation efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the United States of America, which resulted in reaching an agreement for a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip, the timing of which will be announced within 24 hours and will continue for four days, extendable, stressing the need to build on the humanitarian truce to reach a full and sustainable ceasefire as soon as possible.
The members of the Ministerial Committee stressed the importance of the members of the Security Council and the international community taking effective and urgent measures for a complete ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of securing safe corridors for the delivery of humanitarian aid, food, water, fuel, and electricity to Gaza.
The members of the Ministerial Committee called on the French Republic to play a balanced role in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law, to reach an immediate and complete ceasefire, and to implement all relevant international resolutions.
The members of the Ministerial Committee called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility by rejecting all forms of selectivity in applying international legal and moral standards and protecting the Palestinian people from crimes committed by the occupation forces and settler militias against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The meeting touched on the need to revive the peace process, as members of the Ministerial committee stressed the importance of ensuring a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace, through implementing international resolutions related to the two-state solution and enabling the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
