Minister Shaheen hands Credentials as the Honorary Consuls of Honduras and Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine

Ramallah, February 3,2025– Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen, handed credentials to Mr. Nicola Khamees as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Honduras and to Ms. Luna Shomali as the Honorary Consul of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine.

Minister Shahin welcomed Honduras’ decision to reappoint an honorary consul in Bethlehem, emphasizing that this step would further strengthen bilateral relations, facilitate connections for Hondurans of Palestinian descent with their homeland, and open new avenues for cooperation. The Minister highlighted the deep historical relationship between the two nations and expressed confidence in expanding collaboration across various fields.

Similarly, Minister Shaheen commended Sri Lanka’s renewed appointment of an honorary consul in Bethlehem and Hebron, stressing its importance in enhancing ties and fostering cooperation. Shaheen praised Sri Lanka’s steadfast support for Palestine and underscored the significance of developing partnerships, particularly in religious tourism, to encourage more Sri Lankans to visit the holy sites in Palestine. Discussions also covered bilateral relations and opportunities for cooperation.
