Malki Meets with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court

Netherlands, The Hague –

Foreign Minister Dr. Riad Malki and his entourage met on Wednesday with the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Ms. Fatou Bensouda, as part of a series of previous meetings with the Prosecutor and her office to follow-up  communications and referral Submitted by the State of Palestine on the Israeli crimes committed against the Palestinian people, and to convey the image of the recent aggression by the Israeli occupying forces against Gaza Strip.

During his meeting, the Foreign Minister focused on the importance of opening a criminal investigation on the situation in Palestine as soon as possible, especially since the Israeli Government, which is currently being formed, is seeking to annex the West Bank and continue to illegally impose Israeli sovereignty over illegal settlements, and has touched on what he has done . The Israeli judiciary has dropped the murder of the terrorist settler who burned and killed the Doabsha family, and called on the prosecutor to consider this case, especially since the state of Palestine has submitted a previous communication about the crime of burning the Duabsha family and that the communication has guaranteed the lack of credibility of the so-called judiciary and the Israeli courts.  His excellemcy reiterated saying that the system was not a just system but an instrument of occupation and that the International Criminal Court should hold Israeli war criminals to a remedy for the victims, the Doabsha family and other families of Palestinian victims.

Malki stressed that the state of Palestine has always been ready to fully cooperate with the Office of the Prosecutor and to provide all information concerning violations committed by the Israeli occupation leaders and settlers, specifically that information proving their involvement in the strengthening of the colonial settlement system.  The aim of the annexation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory is a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the atrocities committed and still in the Gaza Strip, as well as their crimes against Palestinian prisoners.

During his meeting, minister Malki also expressed support for the International Criminal Court, the Prosecutor and the staff of the Court in confronting the threats made against them by the United States Administration, while stressing the importance of supporting the Prosecutor and the need for the international community, headed by Member States to provide all the necessary tools to ensure the implementation of  the court's mandated functions in accordance with the Rome Statute and to combat impunity.

At the end of the meeting, Malki stressed that Palestinian diplomacy will not stand idly by and the international community that should shoulder its responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people, achieving justice and redress for its victims. Foreign Minister Dr. Riad Malki, handed over an annual report on the crimes committed by Israel, the occupying Power, and its leaders during the year 2018 , to her Excellency Mrs. Fatso Bensouda,
