Foreign Minister Dr. Riad Malki Meets with His Ecuadorian Counterpart
During an official visit, Foreign Minister Riad Malki and his Ecuadorian counterpart Jose Valencia Amoris discussed political developments and the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two sides. The meeting was held in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ecuador Hani Al-Rimawi, and the Assistant Secretary of State for the Americas and Caribbean Affairs Hanan Jarrar and third secretary, Linda Dar Issa.
From the Ecuadorian side, Africa, Asia and Oceania Officer, Lourdes Puma, Multilateral Sector Officer Laura Donoso, International Cooperation Officer Mourinho Montalovo, and Director of the Middle East and Africa Department, Lorenado Suarez attended the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Valencia welcomed Minister Malki and the accompanying delegation, and affirmed Ecuador's position in support of the Palestinian issue, the two-state solution and peaceful coexistence in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
In return, Minister Malki thanked the Ecuadorian side for the reception and for hosting the ambassador’s conference of the State of Palestine in Latin America and the position of Ecuador in support of Palestine in various fields and forums. The two sides also discussed political issues, bilateral cooperation, and mechanisms to strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of agriculture, security, health, tourism and other fields.
Minister Malki handed his counterpart Valencia a message from President Mahmoud Abbas to President Lenin Moreno thanking him for supporting Palestine in international forums, and for his solidarity with the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom and independence, and invited him to visit Palestine.
Subsequently, the two parties signed three agreements and memorandums of understanding in the field of agricultural, sports and youth cooperation fields.
