Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Meets Malaysian Foreign Minister in Jeddah

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin, met today with Malaysia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Sri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, on the sidelines of the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Minister Shahin briefed her Malaysian counterpart on the grave challenges facing the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the continued genocide, killing and starvation in the Gaza Strip, the severe shortage of humanitarian assistance, and the lack of full and sustained opening of crossings to ensure the delivery of essential supplies.
She also warned of the escalating settler terrorism across the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, which pose a direct threat to the lives, security and continued presence of the Palestinian people on their land.

Minister Shahin underscored that the Palestinian leadership and government remain firmly committed to keeping the Palestinian people rooted in their homeland and thwarting any plans for their displacement. She stressed the need for Arab and Islamic states to take concrete and effective measures to protect and support the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, advance their vital interests, and uphold their inalienable rights.
For his part, the Malaysian Foreign Minister affirmed the strength of the longstanding ties between Malaysia and Palestine and reiterated Malaysia’s continued support for the Palestinian people. He highlighted Malaysia’s ongoing assistance to UNRWA, as well as its support for Palestinian non-governmental organisations.
