The State of Palestine Welcomes Mexico’s Declaration of Intervention in the Genocide Case Against Israel Before the ICJ

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine warmly welcomes the declaration of intervention by the Government of the United Mexican States under Article 63 of the Rules of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the case concerning the Application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South Africa v. Israel).
Mexico’s motion shows a steadfast commitment to justice and the international rule of law, underscoring the deep-rooted solidarity and historical friendship between our nations. In this regard, the State of Palestine wishes to reiterate its profound appreciation to the Republic of Nicaragua, the Republic of Colombia, and the State of Libya for their declarations of intervention before the Court in this critical case.
We call upon all states to actively engage in the proceedings before the Court to push for an end to the genocide and to combat Israel’s impunity. These declarations come at a crucial time when the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, particularly in Rafah, are enduring a disastrous humanitarian situation, which has resulted in unprecedented suffering, highlighting the urgent need for international intervention and justice.
