The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomes the request submitted by the Federative Republic of Brazil to join the case filed before the International Court of Justice by Brazil

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomes the request submitted by the Federative Republic of Brazil to join the case filed before the International Court of Justice by the Republic of South Africa against Israel, regarding the ongoing commission of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

This development underscores Brazil’s steadfast commitment to the principles of international law and its support for justice and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. It represents a significant reinforcement of international efforts to end impunity and ensure accountability for violations perpetrated by Israel, the Occupying Power.

The Ministry regards this decision as a clear reflection of Brazil’s principled position in upholding international humanitarian law and its moral and political responsibility to stand with oppressed peoples in defense of justice and human dignity.

The Ministry calls upon all states to follow the example of Brazil and South Africa, to assume their legal and moral responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people and ending the crime of genocide against them, and to join this case for its vital importance in strengthening the rule of international law and consolidating global efforts to achieve justice and put an end to Israeli violations.
