State of Palestine Rejects the Extension of U.S. Sanctions Against Its Officials and Members of the Palestine Liberation Organization

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates rejects the U.S. decision to extend visa restrictions against Palestinian Authority officials and members of the Palestine Liberation Organization, stressing that such measures are unjustified and undermine efforts to rebuild trust, strengthen Palestinian-American relations, and advance the two-state solution.
We reaffirm the PLO’s and the Palestinian Authority’s commitment to peace, international law, UN resolutions, and the two-state solution based on the 4 June 1967 borders. We firmly reject the claim that pursuing Palestinian rights through the United Nations and international courts undermines peace. Resorting to international law and institutions is a legitimate and peaceful means of protecting our rights.

International recognition of the State of Palestine is not a substitute for negotiations, but an affirmation of the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination and statehood. We also highlight the substantial reforms undertaken by the Palestinian government and call for these efforts to be assessed on the basis of facts and verifiable progress.
We call on the U.S. administration to reverse these restrictions, engage in direct and serious dialogue, and support the implementation of UN resolutions, the New York Declaration, and efforts toward a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
The State of Palestine will continue to uphold its national and international obligations and pursue its legitimate rights through peaceful political, diplomatic, and legal means.
