Minister Shahin discusses with the Cypriot Ambassador the developments and urgent humanitarian needs
16/05/2024 - Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met today with the Chief of the Cyprus Representation Office to the State of Palestine, Ambassador Demetris Assos, to discuss recent developments and urgent humanitarian needs. She praised Cyprus for its humanitarian efforts and international support for Palestine, emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral relations and convening the Palestinian-Cypriot Joint Committee. Shahin condemned ongoing Israeli violations against Palestinians and criticized international double standards. She briefed the Ambassador on plans to enhance relief efforts in Gaza and stressed the importance of supporting UNRWA.
Ambassador Assos reaffirmed Cyprus's support for the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution, expressing his country's commitment to supporting Palestinian institutions. He expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries.
