Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns Deadly Settler Attack in Qaryout, Calls for Immediate International Intervention

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemns the deliberate attack carried out by Israeli settlers on Monday in the village of Qaryout, south of Nablus. The assault resulted in the killing of two Palestinian residents and left several others wounded, some seriously.

The ministry stated that the attack forms part of a systematic and ongoing policy pursued by the occupying authorities, characterized by violence, intimidation, settlement expansion, land confiscation, forced displacement, and arbitrary arrests. It stressed that these acts are not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern unfolding across the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.

The Israeli government bears full responsibility for enabling and protecting armed settler groups, thereby creating an environment in which such attacks persist with impunity. The settlement system, built on institutional protection and systematic immunity, shields perpetrators from punishment and encourages continued violence against Palestinian civilians.

The ministry urged the international community to move beyond statements of concern and take concrete, enforceable measures, including imposing sanctions on settlement-related activities and their supporters, activating international accountability mechanisms, and ensuring effective protection for Palestinian civilians. It affirmed that it will simultaneously intensify its political, legal, and diplomatic efforts in international forums to pursue accountability and to work with partners toward ending the occupation and realizing an independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
