Minister Shaheen Addresses the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Forum in Lisbon
Lisbon, Portugal– Dr. Shahin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Palestine, delivered a compelling address on behalf of the State of Palestine at the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Forum in Lisbon. The Minister highlighted the catastrophic conditions endured by the Palestinian people due to over 400 days of genocide and forced displacement perpetrated by the Israeli occupation. Dr. Shahin condemned the systematic destruction of Gaza, aimed at rendering it uninhabitable, and the relentless annexation, land seizures, and targeting of people, property, and holy sites in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Minister Shahin urged the international alliance to take decisive action, demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. She emphasized the importance of implementing the UN General Assembly resolution endorsing the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion, which mandates the end of Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territory within 12 months. Dr. Shahin also called on Portugal to recognize the State of Palestine, strengthening international efforts to safeguard the two-state solution.
