"Garden of Palestine" inaugurated in Cyprus
The Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Cyprus Jubran Taweel, in cooperation with Stavros Michael the mayor of Tseri, a town in the south of the capital Nicosia, inaugurated the "Garden of Palestine ".
The event was attended by the Palestinian and Cypriot communities and other dignitaries.
The event began with a performance by the scouts marching band from the nearby Dali municipality, which marched in town until it reached the land site .
The” Garden of Palestine” is a piece of land donated by the municipality and the embassy of Palestine amd the Palestinian community takes on the responsibility to cultivate and take care of the land for the benefit of the people of the area.
In his speech, the Palestinian Ambassador thanked the mayor and the municipal council for this gesture , which reflects the strength of the bond between the Palestinian and Cypriot peoples
The ambassador pointed out that the olive branch is the oldest symbol of peace in the world and is also the emblem of the Cypriot flag and the slogan of the municipality of Tseri.
Palestinian ambassador , the mayor of Tseri , member of the European Parliament of AKEL, Nucleus Silikotis, international relations director of AKEL , Vera Polycarpou , the Palestinian community and members of the embassy, planted trees in the "Garden of Palestine".
