Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates: Ambassador of New Zealand sends his condolences to the Palestinian people victims of the terrorist incident.

The non-resident Ambassador of New Zealand to Palestine through Cairo, Mr. Greg Lewis, extended his condolences to Ambassador Dr. Mazen Shamieh, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and expatriates for Asia, Africa and Australia, of the victims of the terrorist attack on the two mosques, last Friday in Christchurch. Fifty of them, including 6 Palestinians, were killed in addition to six wounded.

 

This came during a telephone conversation with Ambassador Shamieh this morning by the Ambassador of the United States, in which he extended his condolences to the families of the Palestinian martyrs. Affirming his condemnation of this heinous terrorist crime against worshippers, he added that the protection of Islamic Society is currently a priority for the government of Zealand.

 

Ambassador Shamieh expressed his thanks and appreciation to Mr. Lewis for his condolences to the Palestinian people, and stressed the need for New Zealand to stand up and fight against all forms of terrorism in the region and the world and to confront hate speech, racism and extremism, particularly directed at Islam and Muslims, and he stressed that The Palestinian people have suffered the bitterness of this tragedy, which has brought to its memory painful events similar to the massacres of the Ibrahimi Mosque and other massacres that will continue to stain the perpetrators and the racist regime. Shamieh added that such a momentous event should be a catalyst for the consolidation of all international efforts to combat and confront terrorism and extremism, and to support the values of tolerance, coexistence and cultural integration in societies far from races and religions. He also called on the Government of New Zealand to open up more with the Islamic world and dialogue with him to support civilizational values, and to work with him to solve all crises and problems, foremost of which is the first issue for the Islamic world, the question of Palestine, which must be resolved equitably in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations, which It is the most important entry point for the solution of all crises in the region and the whole world.
