During the bilateral consultation session, Slovakia decides to increase the number of scholarships and development assistance provided to the Palestinian people

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and expatriates for European affairs, Ambassador Dr. Amal Jado, held a session of political consultations between the Palestinian and Slovak Ministries of Foreign Affairs at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates in Ramallah, in the presence of the Director General of international organizations and humanitarian and development assistance in The Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Karla WURSTEROVÁ , and her delegation, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Miroslav Haske of Slovakia, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates, director of the Eastern Europe Department, Counsellor Mervat Hassan, and the Slovak Republic Secretary Third, Mahmoud al-Shaikh, and from the media unit, Third Secretary Sofia Dabies.

 

Dr. Jado reviewed the political developments on the Palestinian scene, the latest of which was the formation of the new Palestinian Government, and Ambassador Jado touched on the difficult economic situation in Palestine by the actions of the US administration, which worked to cut the full humanitarian aid and stop the financing of the United Nations agency For the relief and employment of Refugees (UNRWA) on the one hand, and on the other hand the occupation government piracy of Palestinian money through deductions from the funds of the clearing, arguing that it is money paid to the families of martyrs and prisoners, confirming the position of the Palestinian leadership and its national commitment towards the martyrs and wounded And the prisoners of Palestine, and its rejection of all restrictions and pressures aimed at compromising the national constants.

 

Ambassador Jado reviewed the escalation of Israeli violations, in the Occupied Palestinian territory, and the announcement by the Israeli Government of the establishment of 2,300 new settlement units in the occupied city of Jerusalem and its environs, which had increased in frequency following the decision of the United States President on Jerusalem, as well as a reference to The Israeli plan to build a synagogue in Bab al-Rahma. Ambassador Jado also touched upon the racist laws ratified by the Israeli Knesset, such as the national law, and the systematic policy of the right-wing Israeli government to tighten the Palestinian government ahead of the Israeli government elections next month.

 

In the light of the recent political developments in the Middle East, Ambassador Jado stressed the centrality of the Palestinian issue, which will remain at the top of the priorities of the Arabs in particular and of the international community at all in general, because the solution to this conflict has fundamental repercussions on the Middle East peace process, and these issues can be translated At the Arab-European Ministerial Meeting held in Brussels early in the month of February followed by the summit held between Arab and European leaders in Sharm el-Sheikh last month, Dr. Jado also touched on the Dublin meeting, which culminated in the important and courageous outcomes towards a just solution to the Palestinian issue.  Ambassador Jado said that all these meetings and conferences were sealed on the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.

Ambassador WURSTEROVÁ stressed that Slovakia is steadfast in its stance on the Palestinian issue, the two-state solution and the right to self-determination, adding that it is important in this politically and economically difficult period for the Palestinian people to work to provide material and human support through the financing of small projects that benefit To different social groups, especially the marginalized. Ms. WURSTEROVÁ announced an increase in scholarships for Palestinian students, humanitarian assistance and support for the agriculture, health and education sectors, as well as training for Palestinian diplomats.

 

In conclusion, she thanked Ambassador Jado for this visit, stressing the importance of continuity in holding these meetings to consult and exchange views on many international, regional and bilateral issues.
