With great success, PICA completes the first phase of its development programs in the republic of Nicaragua

Managua / Nicaragua

The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency ended the first phase of its development programs in the Republic of Nicaragua, which included specialized training courses in the field of agriculture provided by Palestinian experts aimed at developing the performance of the Nicaraguan agricultural institutions in specific areas to raise the quality of production and increase the agricultural product, which will assist in the national plans to reinforce food security strategies.

Imad Al-Zuhairi, Director General of the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency, held a number of meetings with  Nicaraguan ministers and officials in the presence of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine and the Agency’s representative in Nicaragua, Fadi Zahran to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The delegation met with the Advisor to the President for International Cooperation and the Minister in charge of the Palestine File Siddhartha Marin. Mr. Marin conveyed the greetings of President Daniel Ortega to his brother Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people and he expressed the gratitude of the Nicaraguans people for the development support provided by Palestine to Nicaragua in the fields of agriculture and health.

Al-Zuhairi also met with Agriculture Minister Eduard Santino, who listened to the results and outputs of the first phase of the specialized knowledge transfer program which was appreciated by the Nicaraguan side because of its impact on raising the potential of agricultural engineers and veterinarians, which in turn will help promote the development process.

The Director General of the Agency also met with the Minister of Youth Bosco Castillo and discussed with him the joint cooperation and mechanisms to increase the role of youth in strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

Al-Zuhairi also met with the Minister of Health Sonia Castro and discussed with her the program of cooperation in the medical field, which will be launched early next month through the expertise and the knowledge transfer program in the field of orthopedic surgery and the cardiology and surgery program, which is a priority in the work of the health sector in Nicaragua.

On the sidelines of the summit of the Association of Caribbean States, the Director General of the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency met with a number of delegates from the participating countries and held a fruitful and constructive meeting with David Shukihvansa, Secretary General of the ALBA and former Bolivian Foreign Minister, and discussed with him ways to enhance cooperation that will serve the achievement of common objectives.
