The Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Senior Officials Committee Concluded its Work

The CICA Senior Officials committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence- Building Measures in Asia (CICA) concluded its work on Thursday, June 13, 2019. The Palestinian delegation participating in the meeting was led by the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dr. Montaser Abuzaid, with the presence of the second secretary of the Embassy of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Uzbekistan Dr. Bisher Araj, and the third secretary Lina Hamdan, director of the Department of Central Asia and Azerbaijan in the PalestinianMinistry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

During the meeting, political, military, security, economic and developmental issues were discussed. The Dushanbe Declaration, which will be issued by the 5th Summit of the Interaction and Confidence-Building in Asia Conference that will be held on 15 June 2019, was adopted, as the State of Palestine’s delegation will be headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Reyad Malki. The meeting was preceded by significant discussions on important issues that raise the concerns of the Asian countries and the international community as a whole, the most important of which is the Palestinian issue. The Declaration included a special paragraph on the situation in Palestine and the Middle East. All countries agreed on the need to end the occupation, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 and East Jerusalem as its capital.

Moreover, the committee discussed terrorism facing the region and the world, and the need to work together to combat extremism and terrorism, spread the values of tolerance in the relationship between people and deepen the concept of cooperation to solve all crises in the region and the world in the framework of joint international efforts, the participants affirmed that these threats can’t be resolved by one country.

On the sidelines of the summit, the General Secretariat of the "CICA organized an art competition for member states, where the State of Palestine participated with paintings were presented by the Palestinian artist Jamal Badwan.
